But how do you know for sure that the engine you have was really assembled by S&S, and how do you know that all the parts in it are S&S? The answer is simple. All complete engines assembled by S&S come with a certificate of authenticity that lets you and your customer know that you have the real deal. New Information about S&S Engines

S&S Cycle Announces New Names For S&S Engines
LA CROSSE, WI - S&S Cycle announces new names for their well-known engine families. Effective immediately, S&S will be referring to their engines with the following prefixes: SH, V, T, X, and B.

S&S is known as the leader in the high-performance aftermarket, producing engines of the highest quality, reliability, and performance to be used in a variety of custom motorcycles and as replacements for American v-twin models.
Were not changing our engines, just the names. We know there are several street names that have been used, and will continue to be used in the market to identify engines of all types, but now we can officially refer to our engines with specific names that are simple and effective as we continue to provide premium engines and parts, from competition to the street, since 1958.

The SH-Series includes the award-winning shovel engine in its various configurations including generator, alternator, and generator/alternator options. Displacements are currently 80", 93", and 103".
The V-Series includes engines formerly known as Sidewinder's, Super Sidewinder, and Super Sidewinder Plus. The S&S V-Series engines are available as an after-market product, compatible as a replacement engine for Harley-Davidson's® motorcycles using the Evolution'® engine. These popular Proven Performance's engines are available with displacement options of 96" 107", 113", 124".

The T-Series includes engines utilizing dual cams; the S&S T124 is currently the required engine for the grass-roots S&S 124 Challenge Class in the AHDRA. These high-performance engines are compatible as a replacement engine for Harley-Davidson's® motorcycles using the Twin Cam 88's® engine. In addition to the T124 (124" displacement) other models include racing engines in 120". 133" and 139" displacement options. A T-Series version, designed to mount in 1984-1999 single cam models, is also available.

The X-Series engines are available in 91" and 100" displacement options and are designed to be a performance replacement engine compatible with Harley-Davidson's Sportster'® motorcycles.

The B-Series engines are similar to the X-Series but designed as an after-market performance engine compatible with Buell® motorcycles. This is the engine that was used to set two new speed records by S&S employee, Jeff Bailey, on June 24th and 25th, 2006, at the ECTA event in North Carolina. S&S also continues the development and production of its racing engines and components, including the billet 160" Prostock Motorcycle engine which is currently seeing great success in the NHRA. George Smith and Stanley Stankos founded the company in 1958 in Blue Island, Illinois.
